As a national installer of domestic energy efficiency measures, including heating, insulation, and renewables, we recently embarked on a journey to give back to our local community.
Shining Light on The Random Café
After much consideration and a heartfelt desire to contribute to a meaningful cause, we proudly chose The Random Café as the recipient of our first charitable solar initiative. The Random Café, a cherished local project, has been making a significant difference by tackling food waste and promoting a sense of community. By redistributing surplus food from local supermarkets, businesses, shops, food producers and farms, The Random Café not only helps reduce food waste but also provides affordable and accessible meals to those in need.
When The Random Café initially reached out to us, we anticipated that they might have learned about our services through one of our partners at Watford Borough Council. However, to our pleasant surprise, they discovered us independently online while seeking a quote for a Solar PV system. Once we delved deeper into their inspiring vision and purpose, we were compelled to extend our support by installing the system entirely free of charge. It was a meaningful opportunity for us to align our expertise with their mission, and we couldn't be more honoured to be part of The Random Café's journey toward a brighter and more sustainable future. Going further than a single financial donation, the system would help them save money for years to come, allowing them to focus their efforts on supporting the community.
Their mission is simple - to feed bellies, not bins! All of their food is served on a 'pay-as-you-feel' basis, meaning customers can choose to pay a financial contribution towards the project of what they feel a meal is worth, give whatever they can, or recognise the value of a meal by donating their time, energy, skills and support. Around 15 million tonnes of food is wasted each year in the UK alone, and the vast majority of that food is perfectly edible - The Random Café aims to do what it can to reduce food waste, and its huge environmental impact.
The installed system comprises a state-of-the-art Solis inverter paired with ten premium-quality JA Solar panels. As soon as the system was activated, it effortlessly reached its peak output of 3.6kW, showcasing the prowess of sustainable energy generation. The café can now revel in the advantage of reducing their energy costs, with any surplus energy generated being credited back to them. This seamless integration of solar power paves the way for greater financial savings and a lower carbon footprint, cementing The Random Café's commitment to sustainability and responsible energy consumption.
