What is the ECO Scheme?

The UK Government's ECO4 scheme offers grant funding for energy efficiency upgrades to your home. You could be eligible for free home upgrades including new heating, insulation and more to help lower your energy bills and make your home more comfortable.

Also known as the Energy Company Obligation, grant funding comes from energy companies, who are obligated to upgrade their customer's homes – they have targets mandated by the government, setting out the number of measures they must deliver throughout the life of the scheme. Currently set to run until 2026, over 75,000 ECO projects have already been delivered* – and it's just getting started!

As a registered installer, we have direct access to grants and work with applicants to deliver the most suitable home improvements.

Who is eligible?

Grants are available to households living in the least efficient homes, who might otherwise be unable to afford home upgrades. Anyone receiving one or more of the following means-tested benefits may be eligible for grant funding.

Universal Credit

Working Tax Credit

Housing Benefit

Jobseekers Allowance

Child Benefit*

Child Tax Credit

Employment and Support Allowance

Income Support

Pension Credit

*Those in receipt of Child Benefit are subject to additional income-based eligibility criteria.

We also work with local authorities across the country to offer ECO4 grants to households not in receipt of one of the above benefits - read on for further details.

What is ECO4 Flex?

ECO4 Flex offers households not currently receiving a means tested benefit the chance to be eligible for ECO grant funding. You could be eligible via Flex if someone in your household suffers from poor health, or if your total household income is below £31,000 per year.

ECO4 Flex is available to applicants living in participating local authority areas.

What is an EPC?

An Energy Performance Certificate details the energy efficiency of a property, considering features such as heating and insulation, and rating it on a scale from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient).

Your home must be E, F or G rated prior to installation in order for us to upgrade your home.

To secure grant funding under ECO4, we must raise your property's rating by two bands – E to C, for example.

We typically offer a package of measures, including both new heating and insulation to meet this requirement.
